Only Patriots Leave CIA Probe

September 26th, 2009

Today I am flying the First Navy Union Jack. Eric Holder and the Democrats want to put the CIA on witch trial at a time when we need the CIA’s focus to be on Iran and terrorism.

Yahoo News:

WASHINGTON (AFP) – US Senate Republicans on Friday pulled out of a bipartisan investigation into controversial “war on terror” detentions and interrogations, including tactics widely condemned as torture.

Sen Kit Bond (R-MO)

Sen Kit Bond (R-MO)

Senator Kit Bond,  who is the panel’s top Republican, blamed Attorney General Eric Holder’s investigation into alleged CIA abuse of detainees, which he said made it impossible for current or former CIA officials to work with the committee. “Against these odds, what current or former CIA employee would be willing to gamble his freedom by answering the committee’s questions?”

“Had Mr Holder honored the pledge made by the president to look forward not backwards, we would still be active participants in the Committee’s review,” Bond said in a statement. (Read full article at Yahoo News).

Bottom Line …

Right now, its dangerous! Finally the somebody is starting to show some meddle! And it is long past time. To even be associated with a witch hunt like this is not only un-patriotic, its downright dangerous for the security of the nation. If the radical liberals in congress and the administration want a witch hunt, let them do it themselves.  But any thinking American should walk away from any “politically-motivated” and “childish” game in which they find themselves meshed, especially in these dangerous  (documented below) times.   When all  hell breaks, and it will, these liberals will find themselves on the wrong side of history and on the wrong side of the ire of the American populace.

Move away and expose the culprits. For now, any member of Congress, Republican or Democrat, who finds themselves on any committee that is not in step with maintaining Liberty, upholding the precepts of the Constitution and securing the safety and integrity of our country should resign from that activity as the Patriots did today. Such acts of resignation will isolate the culprits who will be left standing as responsible for the next disaster.  We are watching more closely than ever before.

There is “Clear and Present” danger NOW. This is not the time to be de-focusing the C.I.A.  (That, from the looks of things within the beltway, seems to be the only functional government instrument still operational). I’m not sure what it would take for these left wing  radicals to understand we are in a real war with real threats that could kill thousands of our citizens.  The following examples in the news today would cause most rational people to give pause . . . . .

  1. We’ve got a terrorist attempt in Colorado/NYC
  2. We’ve got a terrorist attempt in Dallas
  3. We’ve got a terrorist attempt in Chicago
  4. Iran has a 2nd nuclear facility (which we’ve known about for a year!)
  5. We’ve got a terrorist attempt at Quantico!

These real problems in the news today should be taking priority over liberal trivial pursuits.  And these are only the threats we know about … how many others are in the planning stages that we do not know about?

And then there’s this . . .

C-7-Cagle.comBobGorrellCartoonThePoliticalCarnival: Seven former CIA chiefs on Friday urged the Obama administration to halt its investigation of the agency’s interrogation methods, predicting the latest inquiry would only foster “an atmosphere of continuous jeopardy.”

The retired agency heads — John Deutch, Porter Goss, Michael Hayden, James R. Schlesinger, George Tenet, William Webster and R. James Woolsey — also warned the investigation could hamper the government’s intelligence-gathering abilities and deter other nations from working with the United States.

The above retired agency heads are the experts on this, not Eric Holder and fellow community organizers. The President himself said we “must look forward not back,”  but now Obama supports Holder to look back and continue with this politically motivated witch hunt.  (I thought Holder worked for Obama… did I get something wrong?)

Focus on the real threats. We had better start paying a great deal of attention to the real threats and stop the trivial pursuit of political threats. The security of the USA is at stake, and I would rather have the CIA focusing on al Qaeda rather than worrying about how to avoid being incarcerated by our own government.

Are we going to have to get hit again for these people to wake up?

Health Care Alert from NRSC

Obamacare Symbol

Obamacare Symbol

WASHINGTON – In a vote that should send chills up the spine of those satisfied with their current health insurance, Democrats in the Senate Finance Committee today rejected a Republican amendment that would allow Americans to keep their current health care coverage.

Sponsored by U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the amendment stated that the implementation of the final health care bill would not take place unless the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) was able to certify before Congress that the legislation would not cause more than 1,000,000 Americans to lose their current coverage.

The amendment was rejected 10-13, with all Republican Senators voting in favor and all Democrats voting against.

Notably, the defeat of the Hatch Amendment comes on the same week that the head of the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), Douglas Elmendorf, testified before Congress that seniors would see reduced Medicare benefits under the bill currently in the Finance Committee.

It also came on the same day that various media accounts highlighted the Democrats’ defense of the proposed cuts in the popular Medicare Advantage program that so many senior citizens rely upon for their health care.

“It’s inexplicable that the same Democrats who continue to insist that Americans’ current health care coverage will not be affected by the Democrats’ government-run proposal would then turn around and vote against an amendment that would ensure just that,” National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Amber Wilkerson Marchand said today. “Blanche Lincoln needs to level with her constituents, especially the senior citizens in her state who the head of the CBO said will see deep Medicare cuts in the Democrat proposal: will they get to keep their current health care coverage, and if so, why did she vote against legislation that would ensure such a provision will be included in the final bill?”

Another good read on this subject:

Heritage Foundation: Obamacare puts Transparency and Accountability on Death Bed

Bottom Line:

  1. There is no “guarantee” we can keep our present coverage, the Democrats just voted against it.
  2. CBO proves Medicare Advantage will get cut drastically.
  3. CBO proves Obamacare WILL COST MORE, thus taxes will have to be increased.

I cannot believe even some of my Democrat friends would go along with this … I seriously doubt THIS is the Hope and Change they voted for in the last election.  It is time for the Democrats to wake up … this deadly legislation is aimed right at the heart of  their health care too.  The people running this congress are not Democrats, they are “DINOs”  (Democrats in Name Only) … they are not liberals, they are radical socialists.

Either the Obamacare goes in the hole or Seniors do!

Either the Obamacare Bill goes in the hole ...... .....or Seniors do!

Today I am flying the First Navy Union Jack flag … how long have they been indoctrinating our children?  Liberty and Freedom are under attack.

Michelle Malkin: Earlier this year, at the B. Bernice Young Elementary School in Burlington Township, N.J., schoolchildren were instructed to memorize a paean to Barack Obama. A video uploaded to the YouTube account of Charisse Carney-Nunes, author of the children’s book “I Am Barack Obama” and a self-described Harvard Law “schoolmate” of the president’s, showed students lined up in the auditorium snapping their fingers and chanting in unison. The video identifies the kids as students at the B. Bernice Young Elementary School in Burlington, N.J., with taping taking place last June.

“At the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world,” Obama said.

Is this what the “dedicated teachers” are teaching in our schools?

The Words to the song are here:

What are "they" teaching our Children?

What else are "they" teaching our Children?

Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama
He said that all must lend a hand [?]
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be clear today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama
He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!

Barack Hussein Obama
He said Red, Yellow, Black or White
All are equal in his sight

Hello, Mr. President we honor you today!
For all your great accomplishments, we all [do? doth??] say “hooray!”
Hooray Mr. President! You’re number one!
The first Black American to lead this great na-TION!
Hooray, Mr. President something-something-some
A-something-something-something-some economy is number one again!
Hooray Mr. President, we’re really proud of you!
And the same for all Americans [in?] the great Red White and Blue!
So something Mr. President we all just something-some,
So here’s a hearty hip-hooray a-something-something-some!
Hip, hip hooray! (3x)

The Bottom Line …

Beware, is it ACORN-esque? I’m sure there are some great teachers left out there … but this proves there are also some of the most dangerous kinds ALSO out there.  Where are they, who are they? We cannot be in the schools every day … but “other teachers” are there every day. Time for them to start calling out the bad apples among themselves.  Teachers should be weeding these people out so the  “teaching profession” don’t become “ACORN-esque”.

Reoccurring Problem Michelle Malkin had posted on this problem earlier using a subtext of:  “social justice” activism rampant in American classrooms … looks like she was right. Here’s another video, with song reported earlier: (Big Hollywood).  In the short life of this blog, this kind of problem has now been discussed 3 times … the other two were:

Obama and our Children and I Pledge my Service (At your school next)

So, unfortunately, we must begin to look at this as a continuing problem.

Democrats Lied-Transparency Died

September 24th, 2009

Today the Patriot Flag I’m flying is the First Navy Union Jack Flag. I fly this flag when action has been taken that threatens Liberty in the USA.

Liberty Threatened

Liberty Threatened

Today the Democrats besmirched Liberty once again. With all the promises of legislative transparency, today they voted against legislative transparency … breaking their promises and breaking trust and faith once again with the citizenry of the United States. They promised legislative transparency … and today they proved once again they lied.  And here’s their excuse:

Let’s be honest about it, most people don’t read the legislative language,” Sen. John Kerry said.

Dear Senator Kerry (et al):

You think we don't know?

You think we don't know?

Don’t you realize WE ARE STRUGGLING through the legislative gobbledygook you people are putting into the legislation. We are reading the bills and its a damned good thing we are!  What the HELL do you think the Tea Parties are about, you dolt?  Why do you think 1.756,000 people came to DC , to just take a walk down Pennsylvania Avenue?   No, what you are seeing is our REACTION to reading the legislative crap you and your minions are trying to get passed BEFORE we can read it.

And its a good thing we are reading it … or we’d have a Health Care bill already enacted wouldn’t we?  (The President wanted the bill approved before the August recess … why was that, so we couldn’t read it?) The health care bill was a piece of legislation that was totally flawed and a bill that even YOU PEOPLE cannot agree on … uh … that is now that you’ve read it!  Such Democrat “arrogance” is far over the line.  All this does is continue to solidify our thoughts and our platform to change things in 2010 … just to get rid of the arrogance!

From Philip Klein:

The Bunning amendment would have required the committee to have the legislative language of the bill, along with the CBO cost estimate, posted on the internet for 72 hours before a vote.

Democrats argued that waiting for the legislative language to be written, and for the CBO to evaluate it, would needlessly delay the process by weeks.

“Let’s be honest about it, most people don’t read the legislative language,” Sen. John Kerry said.

The Bunning amendment was defeated by a 12 to 11 vote, with Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln the only Democrat voting in favor.

As for Congress, “these people” are not more intelligent than we are out here. Most of “these people” (like Kerry) haven’t ever had a “real” job like you and I have. A job that demanded we produce and meet our goals or we would be (and often have been) summarily FIRED! To have the arrogance to say that we are not capable of understanding the “legislative language” demonstrates how out of touch Kerry is with “those of us out here in America.”  What a lame excuse for trying to ramrod legislation through without the American People being able to read it.

If you are a Democrat, is this what you voted for?  Did you vote for bills, written in a language difficult to understand, that you want to “rush through” the process so the American People don’t even get a chance to read it?  Is this what you really want?  Because if you do, then you are actually seeking a dictatorship … a form of government that does not involve the freedom, liberty and will of its citizenry.

And I’m not the only one…

Rasmussen 9/23/2009 – Fifty-nine percent (59%) of U.S. voters believe that the current level of political anger in the country is higher than it was when George W. Bush was president.

Message from 1,756,000 people marching on DC,

Hey Senator Kerry . . . . .

Senator, Can you hear us now?

Senator, Can you hear us now?

PS … yes this is the same John Kerry that just slipped a  $20 million earmark to the defense bill:

The earmark, tucked into the defense bill at the request of Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts, requires US taxpayers to help the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate realize its goal of building a repository for Kennedy’s papers and an accompanying civic learning center on the University of Massachusetts at Boston campus in Dorchester, next to the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum.  (The Lid)

Newspaper Revitalization Act

September 23rd, 2009

Today the Patriot Flag I am flying is the Fort Moultrie Flag. Here’s why ….

Talk Risking Liberty

Talk Risking Liberty

The Newspaper Revitalization Act S-673  (full text here) has been introduced by Democratic Senator Benjamin Cardin.

The bill is a small bill, about 435 words, that would amend the IRS Code of 1986 to permit newspapers to be given 501(c)(3) status, thus obtaining tax exempt status and the ability to accept charitable contributions. Currently tax laws do not permit newspapers to be operated tax exempt, but they do have mechanisms that permit foundations to own them or support them financially. (Source: The Media Business)

Newspaper Deathwatch

Newspaper Deathwatch

The Newspaper Revitalization Act would allow newspapers to operate as non-profits, if they choose, under 501(c)(3) status for educational purposes, similar to public broadcasting. Under this arrangement, newspapers would not be allowed to make political endorsements, but would be allowed to freely report on all issues, including political campaigns. Advertising and subscription revenue would be tax exempt and contributions to support coverage or operations could be tax deductible.

Reuters: “This may not be the optimal choice for some major newspapers or corporate media chains but it should be an option for many newspapers that are struggling to stay afloat,” said Senator Benjamin Cardin. “We are losing our newspaper industry,” Cardin said. “The economy has caused an immediate problem, but the business model for newspapers, based on circulation and advertising revenue, is broken, and that is a real tragedy for communities across the nation and for our democracy.

And President Obama says:

The Hill.com Obama said that good journalism is “critical to the health of our democracy,” but expressed concern toward growing tends in reporting — especially on political blogs, from which a groundswell of support for his campaign emerged during the presidential election.

“I am concerned that if the direction of the news is all blogosphere, all opinions, with no serious fact-checking, no serious attempts to put stories in context, that what you will end up getting is people shouting at each other across the void but not a lot of mutual understanding,” he said.

From The Toledo Blade: “Journalistic integrity, you know, fact-based reporting, serious investigative reporting, how to retain those ethics in all these different new media and how to make sure that it’s paid for, is really a challenge,” Mr. Obama said. “But it’s something that I think is absolutely critical to the health of our democracy.”I haven’t seen detailed proposals yet, but I’ll be happy to look at them,” Obama told the editors of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Toledo Blade in an interview.

  • Historically Speaking:  During the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln’s administration invested in failing Southern newspapers to influence public opinion in favor of the North. A noble cause in that case, but an example of how public ownership can be used to promote the government’s agenda. (Source CQ Politics).

* * * * *

So should we bail out the newspapers?

My opinion: “No” The newspapers need to solve the problems of why they are failing, and if they cannot solve the problem, then they should fail and go the way of the blacksmith who was making horseshoes.  It is THEIR problem, don’t make it mine … every time the government makes it MY problem, my taxes go up. I can only see one important reason for newspapers today:

Wrapping up Fish

HINT: If a newspaper started up that was like Fox News … I’d probably subscribe.  (I subscribe nor buy none presently).  That paper would take 50% of the “printed” marketplace … just like Fox has.  I’m surprised some enterprising newspaper people haven’t spun away from the mainstream and started just such a project. Otherwise . . .
