• The House, in a motion to recommit attached to the student loan bill, has voted overwhelmingly to de-fund ACORN. It was a bipartisan vote, with more than 300 members voting for the measure. (We’ll get the full numbers/vote breakdown shortly.) This goes further than the Senate did; the Senate took money out of one bill. This is to de-fund the group completely — for any money the House would appropriate. The vote was 345-75.  All 75 votes were Democrats, listed at (from House.gov)

From Eric Cantor: “ACORN has violated serious federal laws, and today the House voted to ensure that taxpayer dollars would no longer be used to fund this corrupt organization. All federal ties should be severed with ACORN, and the FBI should investigate its activity. This united Republican effort to defund ACORN is a victory for the rule of law and taxpayers across the country.”

Breaking News Sept 16, 09 : Politico

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs alluded to video, taken by the conservative site BigGovernment.com, showing ACORN employees giving advice to individuals posing as sex traffickers.

“Obviously, the conduct that you see on those tapes is completely unacceptable. I think everyone would agree to that,” Gibbs said. “The administration takes accountability extremely seriously.”

As the controversy with ACORN continues, don’t forget this …

Obama said 12/01/07, “Before I even get inaugurated, during the transition we’re going to being calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda. We’re gonna be having meetings all over the country with community organizations so that you all have input into the agenda of the next presidency of the United States of America”

These are HIS people, HIS fellow “community organizers.” What these people “are” he “is.”  He said we should judge him by the people he surrounds himself with … judgment time is here. But as the news on ACORN breaks, watch him throw them under the same bus as he did his “white” grandma. (Hmmm, did he make a raciest remark there?)

BREAKING NEWS 9/16/2009 : LA Times:

The Senate voted Monday to block the Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN, a community organization under fire in voter-registration fraud cases.

The 83-7 vote came as ACORN , which stands for the Assn. of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is receiving bad publicity related to surreptitious videos. Two conservative activists posed as a prostitute and her pimp, then released a hidden-camera video in which ACORN employees in Baltimore advised the couple on house-buying and how to account for the woman’s income on tax forms. Two other videos, aired frequently on media outlets such as the Fox News Channel, depict similar situations in Brooklyn and Washington, D.C.

If the House agrees with the Senate, ACORN could not win HUD grants for programs such as counseling low-income people on how to get mortgages.

Last week, the Census Bureau severed ties with ACORN, saying it does not want the group’s help with the 2010 count. The group, which advocates for poor people, conducted a voter registration effort last year and became a target of conservatives when some workers were accused of submitting false registration forms with names including Mickey Mouse.

BREAKING NEWS: 9/11/2009 The Census Director has sent a letter to the National Headquarters of ACORN notifying the group that the Census Bureau is severing all ties with the community organizing group for all work having to do with the 2010 census.

“Over the last several months, through ongoing communication with our regional offices, it is clear that ACORN’s affiliation with the 2010 Census promotion has caused sufficient concern in the general public, has indeed become a distraction from our mission, and may even become a discouragement to public cooperation, negatively impacting 2010 Census efforts,” read a letter from Census Director Robert M. Groves to the president of ACORN.

“Unfortunately, we no longer have confidence that our national partnership agreement is being effectively managed through your many local offices. For the reasons stated, we therefore have decided to terminate the partnership.”

9-11 Remembrance

It happened on September 11th, 2001. I had gone to work early as usual and was having an early coffee with a friend who caught a “flash” on her computer that a small plane had crashed into the World Trade Center in New York.  I was working in Memphis at the time and that was the beginning of the one day I will never forget.

I WILL NOT FORGET

We soon discovered that it was not a “small plane” but that it was a deliberate attack by terrorists. And it was some terrorist group we’d never even heard of before.  How innocent we were on that bright and beautiful morning … totally unaware of the sadness and fear that would grip us in the hours and days to come. For me, it was the day America changed forever.

But memories do fade. Go to Google and search their videos for 9-11 you will have to dig DEEP into the 9-11 debris to find the following four video links … they are buried among hundreds of “truth-er” documentaries “proving” our government blew up the World Trade Center so it could start a war in Iraq.   It made me sick to see some of these.  I would expect such poison and stupidity from the people who did this, but not fellow Americans … (or maybe they are not fellow Americans!).

The video memories I finally found were buried almost as deeply as were the bodies  covered by the two falling towers that bright morning.  The internet is the proof we cannot learn and remember, we seem to only forget, trend toward denial and move on…and how surprised we will be it happens again and we can again seek the cause.

When you have the time, (and today would be a good day to take the time), and want to vividly remember the tragedy of that day, click on the following four links.  And if you “doubt” what is depicted in these startling videos  and like to think “our government did it” … then simply go away, I don’t want you near my blog site!  And if you do watch the videos, be prepared for a tear or two and a quickened heartbeat … also be prepared to be re-angered at what was done.  I watch these four videos every 9/11 .anniversary… and I do remember it well … and  I will never forget. I remember WHAT was done and I remember WHO did it.

They hijacked our airplanes and killed 3000+ innocent people.  They have hijacked the authentic memories of 9-11 by burying the truth beneath conspiracy theories and jokes. And now they are trying to hijack 9-11 as a DAY OF REMEMBRANCE to turn it into a National Day of Service … this to quell the anger, which according to Left Wing Democrat strategists gives the Republicans an advantage.  Imagine the audacity to play political games with such a tragedy. Anybody tired of “hearing” this President T-A-L-K and T-A-L-K and T-A-L-K? I am.  I am bored with listening to him …  same ideas, same screwy cadence of delivery and same far-off look into the eyes of the teleprompter.  There’s no new ideas, no “coming together” … its just the same left wing BS over and over and over … 264 times in 223 days!  PLEASE, give us a break.  This man has worn out his aural welcome … we are TIRED of  HEARING him drone on having his [more than daily] conversations with T.O.T.U.S.  (the teleprompter) … probably the only “person” listening anymore.  And he did it again last night!

Speech Content:

AP In a televised speech to a joint session of Congress, Obama spoke in favor of an option for the federal government to sell insurance in competition with private industry.

(That’s the “public option” … cleverly worded, huh? … told you he didn’t listen!). The only “different” thing said was Obama spoke of 30 million “uninsured” instead of 45 million …  a coded message indicating that illegals wouldn’t be covered? … but the bill doesn’t say that, does it?  And in passing he mentioned that lawsuits make health care more expensive. Opening the door for tort reform?  (Wanna’ bet?) Obama mentioned this a few times last night, seeking “ideas” from the Republicans … more “T-A-L-K” … there has not been ONE meeting at the White House including Republicans … a meeting that was promised … another promise not kept.

“Please say something  that is different,” we said, “please tell us you were listening to us” …. but what did we hear? “Blah, Blah, Blah …You don’t know what’s good for you, I do … Blah, Blah Blah.”

AP: Yesterday – 52% of people don’t want Obamacare! Rasmussen 9/10: 44% favor health care reform, 53% Oppose. What is there about public opinion and, more broadly, the will of the MAJORITY of people that this President doesn’t understand?  What is more amazing are the Democrat sycophants in congress that are praising and supporting him … people who will be boosting the now-present 9.7% unemployment to over 10% in 2010!  (Now there’s some unemployment I could support!).

"You Lied!"

The Wilson Interruption. Joe Wilson (R-SC) shouted out “You Lied” during the President’s speech.  An action which now puts him in jeopardy of “censure” by the ethically-challenged Democrat-controlled House of Representatives. I believe this was the first time anybody in the HISTORY of the United States may be censured for heckling a Presidential address.  If they silence Joe on this one, do you think they wouldn’t go after trying to silence talk radio.  If you disagree,  with “The One,”  you are a problem and must be dealt with summarily. Although Joe (my congressman) apologized, watch them take him to the woodshed … and when they do, there’s more proof of the dangers we are facing. The first amendment doesn’t even apply in our halls of congress, “decorum” supersedes the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. From Jim DeMint: Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) was right. The President was being dishonest when he said the House health care bill does not providing benefits to illegal immigrants. It does.

1. According to the Congressional Research Service, HR 3200 “does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens participating.” The system would essentially operate on an honor system by illegal immigrants.
2. HR 3200 provides State Medicaid agencies with the ability to set eligibility standards for the low income subsidies. Since States are given a 100% federal match, there is nothing to discourage them from setting loose standards that allow illegal immigrants to be enrolled in the program.
3. With the help of the National Council of La Raza, House Democrats defeated two amendments offered to HR 3200 that would have added explicit taxpayer protections to stop benefits from going to illegal immigrants.
4. Senate Democrats promised Friday to include NEW citizenship verification requirements in their health care bill, proving that Joe Wilson was right about giant loophole in the House bill.

• WASHINGTON (AP) – Americans would be fined up to $3,800 for failing to buy health insurance under a plan that circulated in Congress on Tuesday as President Barack Obama met Democratic leaders to search for ways to salvage his health care overhaul. (Are they nuts? …. uh, well, it sort of looks that way!)

Any congressman  who touches this health care bill will be touching a political third rail … and they still don’t get it. (Yet!).   I mentioned yesterday that if the public option (government-run health care) was uttered in Obama’s health care speech, then it was the final proof we needed that he IS NOT LISTENING … and frankly DOESN’T CARE what we think.  “Give Hope and Change a Chance?”  Well we did, and it didn’t work.  Time to send this “listening-challenged” President a message!

We don’t want the damned health care program, Mr. President, you aren’t listening! (Poll) Tonight, at his “umpteenth” speech (264th in 231 days as President) to the American People, our President-ad-hoc-used-car-salesman, is going to prove once and for all if he is a leader or a simplistic follower of liberal ideology. Our Leader of the Free World, who is spending us into an “un-free” world, had a tough summer. (Apparently, August Never Happened…) The people at the town hall meetings, the blogs, etc all are clearly telling him this is the wrong way to go … forcing health care reform (or whatever they are calling it today) on everyone is NOT what the American people want … just look at the polls over at Rasmussen.  So will his speech tonight reflect back to us that he is “listening” to the will of the people … or that in spite of what we want, “He” knows what is best for us.  This will be a defining moment for him. Real leaders listen to their constituents in a Democratic Republic … demagogues simply follow their ideological textbooks.

We are in a financial mess. We are running out of money at the national level. The Administration is asking for the debt ceiling to be raised. Of course, Pelosi, (not to be outdone by Reid) is offering a new $14 TRILLION dollar ceiling while the Senate is only offering a paltry $13 TRILLION. (Pikers!). The bottom line is … if you are running out of money and are proving it by adding $100,000,000,000 a week to the national debt, you don’t propose an UNWANTED health care program that will itself cost a trillion or two, adding to the financial Obama train wreck.

What is it about “we are out of money and need to increase our debt” that Democrats don’t understand? Hear us people, WE ARE OUT OF MONEY and we’re spending it at a rate that increases the national debt $100 billion dollars a week!  This is the time to REDUCE spending, not for ideological reasons spend more.

The “indicator” tonight will be “the public option.” If this is proposed in any way, with or without a trigger, then the President is not only NOT LISTENING to the American People … he is governing without the CONSENT of the American People.  He, and the Democrats, can go forward with the “nuclear option” … just pass it … to hell with what people think.  But if they do, the polarization will be set in stone.  For example:

A Wall Street Journal poll taken last week reflects a gain by Republicans in party identification, closing the gap from 40-33 in April in favor of the Democrats to a Democratic margin of only 35-34. The data reflects that one-third of this six-point closure of the partisan gap comes from a major shift among the elderly – the only demographic group to have moved dramatically.
In April, the elderly broke evenly on their party identification, with 37 percent supporting each political party. Now the Republicans hold a lead, at 46-33. This 13-point closure among the 14 percent of the vote that is cast by those over 65 represents two of the six points of closure nationally.

And that is just the senior demographic. The Democrats can do what they like, they have the votes. If they support Socialism in this country by supporting a Government-run health care system, then so be it.  But people in the United States of America … the real people … will vote them out of office without a second look back.  The decision as to whether or not that happens depends on what happens in the President’s speech tonight.  Is he listening, or not?

PS: Even Democrats are wondering if THIS is what they voted for … every day this continues, THEIR credibility suffers with their peers.  Had I voted for Obama … here’s what I’d be doing:

“Tens of millions of American parents don’t trust him. The upset over this morning’s presidential address to schoolchildren isn’t about the partisan divide, it’s about the president’s arrogance.”

These words spoken by Bob Lonsberry on his blog for Sept 8th, 2009.  As I read through the information, I realized I could not have said it better … let me give you the rest of his thoughts, I don’t have anything to add …

“After seven months of crammed-down-your-throat Obama agenda, half the country has had a bellyful. After seven months of being told that they don’t matter, half the country is returning the sentiment.

They don’t trust him with their children not because they’re paranoid, but because he’s not trustworthy. He has shown himself to be an enemy to their values and beliefs – to be hostile to their families and their country – and they are merely saying, “Stay the hell away from our kids.”

This isn’t about Republicans, this is about Barack Obama. Specifically, it is about a president who steamrolled and marginalized those who didn’t vote for him and who now is astounded that they [don't still love him.] He wants to be a rock star but nobody’s buying tickets.

Here’s the background.

The Department of Education sent out talking points for teachers, outlines of lesson plans intended to precede and follow a then-unannounced speech by the president to elementary school students. Troublesome in the wording was a suggested assignment that pupils be asked to write down a plan for how they could help President Obama.

That ticked people off. But that was only part of it. Because not only didn’t parents want their kids being drafted into the Obama army, they didn’t want this particular socialist politicizing the classroom.

When you’ve got a classroom being run by an NEA member and you’re piping in Barack Hussein Orwell, all of a sudden the home-school people don’t seem so kooky. All of a sudden it seems like an unnecessary lecture intended primarily to indoctrinate the impressionable into the cult of Big Brother.

Parents don’t so much mind the president talking to their children, but seven months have taught the country to expect propaganda, not talk. Further, about half the country simply doesn’t trust his basic philosophy.Like the notion that America’s children need a lecture on doing their homework from the head of the federal government.

See, the federal government isn’t in charge of my children’s education – I am. And American children don’t need the president to tell them that education is important – that’s what parents are for. Every child in every classroom has a parent or guardian who can talk to them about doing their homework and paying attention in school. Every student in every classroom has a teacher or two who can talk to them about working hard and setting goals.

For crying out loud, even Bill Cosby is telling children about the importance of education. We don’t need  [a Marxist] to think that the nanny government has to get in the act. And, no offense intended, but there are a bunch of us who think that “community organizer” is not exactly the role model we want our children following. For a certain portion of America, squealing for a bigger cut of other people’s tax money isn’t particularly noble and it’s not what we want our kids to grow up to do.

Further, we prefer that people who used illegal drugs not hold themselves out as teachers of the young. We are not impressed by the irony that the guy in charge of the military would be barred – by virtue of his teen-aged drug use – from enlisting in the military.

But the bottom line isn’t politics or philosophy – it’s the way he’s treated us. He has treated half the electorate like dirt and has done nothing, through the first eighth of his term, to make friends or earn himself the benefit of the doubt. Typically, when someone wins an election, he sets out to reassure and woo the folks who didn’t vote for him. Typically, basic decency makes a politician want to show he’s serving all the people.

The Obama Administration and the Democrats who control Congress have had no such disposition. It has been an arrogance unmatched for decades as divergent views have been dismissed and mocked. Half the country feels that the president and the Congress are condescendingly dismissive of them.

He has had seven months to extend an olive branch. He has chosen not to. He has chosen instead to attack people and philosophies different from his. He has chosen to play fast and loose with American tradition and principle. He has practiced scorched-earth politics against the people whose taxes support his grand dreams. He has dismissed anyone who doesn’t agree with him.

And tens of millions of Americans don’t want a person like that talking to their children.

And I’m one of them”
