Today I am flying the 1st Navy Union Jack.  I fly this flag when Liberty is threatened … and today, once again, Lindsey Graham (R-SC) demonstrated his liberal leaning as he teamed up with John Kerry (D-MA) on a Cap and Trade (Climate) bill.  Graham is a RINO and should be drummed out of the Repuparty.

Liberty Threatened

Lindsey Graham (R-SC) announced on October 11th, 2009 that he is teaming up with John Kerry (D-MA) on Cap and Trade legislation:

Politico: Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina publicly announced his support for climate legislation on Sunday in an op-ed column with Democratic Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts. “Our partnership represents a fresh attempt to find consensus that adheres to our core principles and leads to both a climate change solution and energy independence,” the two senators wrote in The New York Times. “It begins now, not months from now — with a road to 60 votes in the Senate.” Graham’s support is a major win for climate supporters, who are seeking Republican support for climate legislation.

Cap and Trade (What is it?) (AmericanProgress.Org)

• The goal: To steadily reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions economy-wide in a cost-effective manner.
• The cap: Each large-scale emitter, or company, will have a limit on the amount of greenhouse gas that it can emit. The firm must have an “emissions permit” for every ton of carbon dioxide it releases into the atmosphere. These permits set an enforceable limit, or cap, on the amount of greenhouse gas pollution that the company is allowed to emit. Over time, the limits become stricter, allowing less and less pollution, until the ultimate reduction goal is met. This is similar to the cap and trade program enacted by the Clean Air Act of 1990, which reduced the sulfur emissions that cause acid rain, and it met the goals at a much lower cost than industry or government predicted.
• The trade: It will be relatively cheaper or easier for some companies to reduce their emissions below their required limit than others. These more efficient companies, who emit less than their allowance, can sell their extra permits to companies that are not able to make reductions as easily. This creates a system that guarantees a set level of overall reductions, while rewarding the most efficient companies and ensuring that the cap can be met at the lowest possible cost to the economy.

However …..

$100,000,000,000+ tax! An internal Treasury Department memo recently revealed the Obama Administration knows its cap-and-trade plan could cost taxpayers $100 billion to $200 billion annually. This is unconscionable, especially for states like Indiana that rely on carbon-intensive electricity. The Senate legislation is also a hidden tax on the fuels Indianans depend on — gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and home heating oil. Farmers, truckers, deliverymen and many other workers would be hit hard as a result. Perhaps most ironically, this bill will have little to no impact on reversing global warming. If it does virtually nothing to address climate change and hurts us all with higher gasoline taxes, then why is Congress even considering it?

CO2/Global Warming is a myth! CanadaFreePress.com Proponents of human induced warming and climate change told us that an increase in CO2 precedes and causes temperature increases. They were wrong. They told us the late 20th century was the warmest on record. They were wrong. They told us, using the infamous “hockey stick” graph, the Medieval Warm Period (MWP) did not exist. They were wrong. They told us global temperatures would increase through 2008 as CO2 increased. They were wrong. They told us Arctic ice would continue to decrease in area through 2008. They were wrong. They told us October 2008 was the second warmest on record. They were wrong. They told us 1998 was the warmest year on record in the US. They were wrong it was 1934. They told us current atmospheric levels of CO2 are the highest on record. They are wrong. They told us pre-industrial atmospheric levels of CO2 were approximately 100 parts per million (ppm) lower than the present 385 ppm. They are wrong. This last is critical because the claim is basic to the argument that humans are causing warming and climate change by increasing the levels of atmospheric CO2 and have throughout the Industrial era.

1. There is no global warming, a global cooling trend is now predicted, (RightSideNews.com).

2. Cap and Trade is a huge tax that will limit energy and cost the American Public $100,000,000,000 to $200,000,000,000 a year!!

3. Lindsey Graham lied!. In his campaign commercials said he was a conservative … Cap and Trade is a LIBERAL proposal, he’s supporting Cap and Trade … therefore he’s a liberal and he lied about being a conservative.

4. Lindsey Graham lied! Lindsey Graham is also supporting (bi-partisan effort) a Health Care Proposal … another LIBERAL proposal, Lindsey Graham, supporting this liberal proposal is demonstrating he is a liberal, therefore he lied about being a conservative.

PS:  Yes I am a S.C. resident and no, I did not vote for Lindsey Graham.  I voted for his Democrat opponent (and I don’t even remember his name, and am not going to look it up now). When Graham beat the REAL conservative, Buddy Witherspoon in the Republican Primary, I “resigned” from the Republican Party.  There was no way I could campaign for the Republican Party when the faux conservative Lindsey Graham would be the candidate.  And you can see now, from the above … my vote wasn’t so crazy!  Lindsey Graham is why I am a Conservative Independent … and more proud of my decision every day!
