Snow(e) Creates Slippery Slope
Today I am flying the Navy Union Jack. Liberty was threatened yesterday when Olympia Snowe’s vote on the Senate Committee’s Health Care bill made it “bi-partisan.” Republicans, allowing this behavior from within the party, will lose the next election just as easily they lost the last one. The result threatens Liberty AND Freedom.
President Obama: “After many months of thoughtful deliberation, the fifth and final committee responsible for health care reform has passed a proposal that has both Democratic and Republican support,” the president said. “After the consideration of hundreds of amendments, it includes ideas from both Democrats and Republicans, which is why it enjoys the support of people from both parties.” (From Salon.com)
A Party of ONE! Weak Link!
Salon.com: What he didn’t say was that, in seeming contrast to his message, Snowe was the only Republican on the Finance Committee to vote for the bill. She may end up being the only Republican senator to vote for the final legislation; indeed, given recent history, she could be the only member of the GOP in all of Congress to support whatever Democratic proposal finally emerges.
Its Not Health Care, its a TAX!
- It would reduce payments to health-care providers, such as hospitals, by more than $400 billion over the next decade. (who makes up this deficit? … rationing?).
- The biggest proposed tax would raise some $200 billion from a levy on high-value health plans.
- The legislation would raise more than $380 billion in taxes and fees over the same period. Insurers, medical-device makers and drug companies would be subject to additional fees, raising tens of billions of dollars.
- Would tax insurers offering plans valued at more than $231,000 for a family of $8,000 for an individual. New taxes on health industries including drug and device makers.
(An excellent “Putting it Together” summary from the Wall Street Journal: HERE)
CanadaFreePress.com Democrats don’t need Republicans to pass the health care bill. They just needed Republicans for political cover in case it blows up later. That “cover” would be that the bill was “bipartisan”. If health care passes, blame Snowe.
The Bottom Line
* * * * *

The "Right" reaching to the "Left"
A Weak Link: Drudge this morning (10/14/2009) featured Snowe as the “Party of One: She’s All Alone.“ But we also know a weak link in a strong chain determines the strength and integrity of the entire chain. By voting for this disguised tax bill, Olympia Snowe has determined the potential fate of the Republican Party for 2010. With her vote in the Senate Financial Committee , she has created a slippery slope for the beginnings of a sure conservative loss in 2010! This makes her “anti-Republican” and she should be treated as such by the Republicans.
Republicans are only as strong as their weakest link(s). It is time for “conservative Republicans” to begin demonstrating outrage at any fellow “Republican” who votes outside a strong party line stating NO MORE TAXES! They also must begin to show outrage at party members who “stray” into liberal territory … “reaching across the isle” toward “liberal” bipartisanship.
Just say No! Bipartisanship? Today it means “siding with the left.” It is that simple. No ideas from the left are moved to the right. The only direction is “toward left.” Do we see any Democrat coming across the isle to try to reduce taxes? The only movement is Republicans reaching to the left to “make less taxes.” That doesn’t get the job done. Anything to the left of the conservative position should be met with the motto: Just Say No!

YES! say NO!
YES! Just Say NO!
(“YES” to Freedom and Liberty, “NO” to Socialism and taxes!)
- No to higher taxes
- No to illegal immigration
- No to federally funded abortion
- No to Cap and Trade
- No to the redistribution of wealth!
- No to any further usurpation of Liberty and Freedom from American Citizens.
A Weak Platform for 2010? If the Republicans like Graham, McCain and Snowe continue to reach across the isle, the Republicans will NOT have a platform upon which to stand in 2010. The President said the Health Care vote was “bipartisan” … which means, with Snowe’s vote, the entire Republican Party is now “tainted” with supporting this huge tax on America. Example: Obama saying this vote was a “bipartisan effort” . This taints any future Republican Platform, unless Snowe is held as an example of what the Republican Party DOES NOT represent. If they do not make an example of her, then they again appear as the same “moderate-leaning” Republican Party that lost the last election. And they will lose in 2010.
Rein them in! The RNC had better start reigning these people in because these weak links are going to destroy anything the Republicans could “stand for” in 2010. I want to hear some outrage … and all I hear is silence. Does silence equal acceptance? I’d like to hear Michael Steele tell us what Republicans stand for and basically tell Olympia Snow, Lindsey Graham and John McCain that they are either “with us or they are against us.” And if they are against us, then simply leave the party and stop using RNC dollars to support your own personal causes!
- Been There, Done That. The Republicans already tried the “moderate” approach … reaching across the isle in the last election. The next similar result (from doing the same thing again?) will be a political disaster that may well be the final ruination of the United States of America. Moderation, mixed with Liberalism is a recipe of poison for Liberty and Freedom. Always has been, always will be!
Follow the Money! The other way to solve this problem is something YOU and I can do. Stop funding the RNC. Only send contributions to CONSERVATIVE candidates. If the money starts drying up, changes will have to be made. But as long as you support the RNC that is allowing it’s members to rebuild a “Party of Maybe” … then nothing will change. And nothing changing means a continued move toward the USA becoming a socialist country.
Do you want to financially support Conservatism? Here is a place to go:

On the Free Republic: A person mentioned that it Snowe’s actions didn’t matter we’ be right where were are now, with or without her vote. I disagreed … here’s the exchange:
Poster: And if you think voters in swing districts all across the country are going to associate Republicans running in their district with Olympia Snowe, I think you’re fooling yourself.
The Patriot’s Flag: Oh no, I’m not fooling myself … where were you when the “Swing districts” went toward Obama for a stupid slogan like “Hope and Change!”? This isn’t about “Olympia Snowe” this is about the result of her actions … Now it can be said (and has been said by the President) “Republicans are now Bipartisan on Health Care” … that’s what Olympia Snowe gave them. What the hell dif does it make whether the vote was 14 to 9 … without Snowe’s vote it would have been 13-10 …same result. All her vote did was give Obama a “bipartisan” word to use … her vote had NO AFFECT ON THE OUTCOME. Knowing that, why did she do it? Ah, the next “Maverik” following in the hallowed footsteps of McCain and Graham!
Note this: “With 13 Democrats and 10 Republicans on the committee, the lone Republican vote helps Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., hedge against any Democratic defections as well as claim some semblance of bipartisan support” (Fox News)
There’s the damage. And when the (state run) news media finished with this one the damned Republicans will OWN this health care bill … UNLESS ….unless the RNC comes forward and disavows Snowe’s actions as “NOT-Republican” and puts a shot across her bow!
My point was, the RNC is going to have to start showing some discipline or I AM NOT SENDING THEM ANY MORE MONEY! I don’t want my contributions going into Lindsey Graham’s, Olympia Snow’s or Susan Collins’ coffers. Do these people represent the Republican Party? That’s what I’m waiting to see. If the RNC disavows this activity, then I could feel comfortable voting as a Republican and supporting them. If not, why bother, a RINO Party and a JACKASS Party … what are the differentiators?
