“Marketing” a Tragedy. Outrageous!

January 12th, 2011

Nothing like “marketing” a Tragedy!

TUCSON, AZ — Some conservatives are upset over t-shirts bearing the logo “Together We Thrive: Tucson & America” that were handed out to attendees at tonight’s memorial service in the McKale Center on the campus of the University Of Arizona here.

The shirts, which bear the same logo that adorns other items from the event — including press passes, signage and volunteer t-shirts — were placed on many of the seats in the lower sections of the arena when tonight’s capacity crowd walked in. Quote from TMPDC

Will these people stop at nothing to “promote” this tragedy? Handing out “T-Shirt” to commemorate the memorial of the people “slain” in Tucson?  They made a “logo” for the memorial?

Maybe they should get some blood samples from the sidewalk and hand them out in little vials too! Nothing like a little clotted blood from fallen victims to help people “thrive together” better.  What kinds of morons do we have running this country? “Memorabilia” for a tragedy? These people are SICK!

OUTRAGEOUS!!!

66% Tax Increase for IL – Good!

January 12th, 2011

Jan 12, 2011  A 66 percent increase in the individual state income tax passed the General Assembly early today and is on its way to Gov. Pat Quinn for his signature.  In the House, the contentious tax-hike bill was approved with 60 “yes” votes, the minimum number of votes needed for passage, to 57 “no.” No Republicans voted for Senate Bill 2505. Ten lame-duck Democrats — whose terms expire at noon today — all voted for the tax hike. See the House roll call. In the Senate, the vote was 30-29, also the minimum needed to pass the tax bill.

This is good. (Of course I don’t live in IL anymore). Good because taxes, if there are any, should be at the state level not at the federal level where the voter is too far removed from the tax/spend decisions. And the closer the people who CONTROL the tax are the to people voting to give them that control, the more the PEOPLE’s VOTE will count toward how the money is collected and spent. This is the way it was supposed to work. (Not taxes at the Fed Level).

The result is a local citizenry agreeing with the move or disagreeing with it. Then they vote those people in or out. The voters of IL have voted for people who are making higher taxes happen, the people have the RIGHT in this country to vote for such people. If the people in South Carolina want cake, but IL chooses broccoli, then so be it. The state should make that choice. The people either vote a change, or move to where living matches their lifestyle.

This is how the government was set up in the beginning. Not because of cake or broccoli, but because of religion. The last thing the founders wanted was a “federally” sanctioned religion. There were many religious sects the time and the states decided what they wanted or didn’t want. Then people moved to that place for the lifestyle the wanted to achieve; freedom of religion, freedom of choice.

We “react” to 66% taxes “passed” in IL. But we shouldn’t unless we live there. That is THEIR business, that’s what the people THERE have voted for, and the people in IL either condone it by voting them back in next time, or throw them out.

(The above posted by The Patriot’s Flag on the Free Republic)

The Bottom Line

Of course for those of us who disagree with higher taxes and more government control, the IL legislature is giving us an excellent example of why you should not ever vote for Democrats.  Not one Republican voted for this measure in IL.  But again, it is only a “lesson learned” for us … let them eat brocolli.

The Mourning Flag – (Arizona)

January 10th, 2011

The flag has been ordered to “mourning” state (half mast) because of “senseless acts of violence perpetrated on Saturday in Arizona.”  (The Giffords shooting).  I am flying this flag from now until the designated January 14th for a slain Federal Judge and an innocent 9 year old girl and four other unfortunate souls that died. The media makes this event the “Giffords Shooting” but, although critically wounded, she is, thank God, alive.  The media focus is on a “wounding” of a Democrat Congresswoman, the focus should be focused on SIX KILLINGS, SIX innocent bystanders.

Judge John Roll, 63, had been chief judge for Arizona’s federal district court since 2006 and a federal judge since 1991. The federal judge killed Saturday in an attack on U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was involved in several controversial decisions, but he wasn’t targeted by the suspect ahead of time. He had stopped by Giffords’ meet-and-greet event at a Tucson Safeway to thank her for sending a letter intended to help declare a judicial emergency in his district because of the high number of immigration cases heard there, according to the Wall Street Journal. He was on his way home from Mass when he stopped by the store.

VIDEO: Victims include a retired construction worker and 9-year-old girl.

Christina-Taylor Green, 9, was excited about going to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ informal town hall event this weekend. She started becoming interested in politics during the last presidential campaign.

She had all kinds of patriotic little pins and what not and then she was on her way to being very political and very interested in government …,” her mother, Roxanna Green, said. Christina-Taylor was a straight-A student. The “9/11 baby” sang on the church choir and was best friends with her older brother.

Its been reported that till now about 19 people injured and six people dead at the Gabrielle Giffords Shooting case. The Pima County SheriffSheriff’s Office has released the names of six people died at the deadly incident

Gabriel Zimmerman who was 30 years old and he was Giffords director of community outreach.

Dorthy Murray, 76 years old

Dorwin Stoddard who was 76 years old and a pastor at Mountain Ave. Church of Christ.

Phyllis Sheck, 79 years old

Here is the executive order from the President:

Presidential Proclamation

As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on Saturday, January 8, 2011, in Tucson, Arizona, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, January 14, 2011. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this ninth day of January, in the year of our Lord two thousand eleven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-fifth.

BARACK OBAMA

The Bottom Line

Political Finger Pointing: Of course the media is having a field day with a Democrat being injured by a GUNman.   Sarah Palin, the Tea Party and Conservatives are berated in general for “causing” this problem. Nothing is showing on the mainstream news about the shooter being a person who has had many previous problems, states he is a fan of Mein Kampf and The Communist Manifesto (YouTube) and was known as a “leftwing pothead.” (Sounds like all the people I meet at the Tea Party meetings!). Then there was the press conference by the local Sheriff who, in stating that vitriol in Arizona caused this disaster, only added to that vitriol by giving his opinions rather than sticking with the facts.

The (expected) Blame Game

  1. Rep Clyburn says you have to be “stupid” not to see the connection to Conservatives.
  2. Lib Newspaper siezes gun control moment, blames Republicans
  3. Progressives sieze another crisis after Tuscon Shooting (Free Speech is Bad)
  4. David Brooks – Media wrong to link attack to politics
  5. Despite massive effort, libs fail to convince America, shooting fault belongs to “the right”
  6. Incitement to Tyrrany

Let’s track the facts: It is time to turn off the TV with the wall to wall coverage of  “expert” opinions, candle lightings  people crying, presidential moments of silence, etc.  Mourn as you will (I fly the mourning flag) but it is too early to know the motives of the gunman … and the talking heads are not going to answer those questions.    So we’ll wait for the facts, and I’ll post them below:

  1. Jared Loughner’s behavior recorded by college classmate in emails
  2. Frightening, twisted shrine in Arizona killer Jared Lee Loughner’s yard
  3. Geraldo Rivera, connected tragedy to Tea Party, 7 days later, a “hard core liberal” did it

A Sane Response from Sarah Palin

Flag Day 2010

June 14th, 2010

Today I am flying the flag of the United States of America. This is “Flag Day” 2010.  The Continental Congress, June 14th in 1779, adopted the Stars and Stripes as the National flag. The first flag day was in 1916, when Woodrow Wilson made a proclamation that officially established June 14th as “Flag Day.”  In August of 1949, an Act of Congress established “National Flag Day.” The week of June 14 is designated as “National Flag Week.” During National Flag Week, the president (but probably not the one we have now) will issue a proclamation urging U.S. citizens to fly the American flag for the duration of that week. The flag should also be displayed on all Government buildings. Some organizations hold parades and events in celebration of America’s national flag and everything it represents.

TalkingSides.com: We all know the story of Betsy Ross stitching the first flag (which may or may not be 100% true according to historians). But especially on Flag Day we should also remember another part of our flag’s history. In 1767 the Sons of Liberty, an organization of American patriots, adopted their own flag of nine vertical stripes (5 red and 4 white). These stripes represented the nine colonies who attended the 1765 Stamp Act Congress which was the first organized American resistance to British rule. Many consider this Congress to be the genesis of our American government and that flag proudly represented the fact that, via their delegates, the people of those nine colonies stood up against what they believed was unfair.

Every day is “Flag Day” at The Patriot’s Flag.

With or without a proclamation from the President traditionally asking the USA flag be flow all week, we honor that tradition at The Patriot’s Flag and the USA flag will proudly fly on our front porch all week.

Political Protests and the Flag

We NEVER fly the USA Flag up-side-down as a “political protest.”  We feel that is disrespectful to our national symbol and it will not happen here.  It is not necessary to use the USA flag for “political protest” when there are so many other flags you can fly for that purpose.  But there are many other historical patriot flags that have symbolic significance and can help you “make your point” without disgracing “Old Glory”.

The Flags we Fly, and Why …

Our USA flag flies on all designated USA patriotic holidays. (Memorial Day, Flag day (week), 4th of July, etc).  It is also flown in times of national mourning with the black mourning ribbon attached to the staff.  The rest of the time, we fly various Patriot Flags.  The patriot flag flown indicates the “tenor” or “subject” of The Patriot’s Flag blog. The “ultimate” Patriot’s Flag is the flag of the United States of America.

  • Gadsden Flag – When the subject is taxes, bailouts, USA financial discussions or Tea Parties
  • 1st Navy Union Jack – Flown when Liberty is “threatened” (pending legislation, Executive order, etc)
  • Ft Moultrie Flag – flown when there is “Liberty Risky discussion” … proposed legislation, etc.
  • S.C. Flag – Flown when politics are relatively quiet and the day’s post is non-political
  • S.C. Sovereignty Flag - Flown for 10th amendment posts or mentions of state sovereignty
  • Sons of Liberty Flag – Flown when the post discusses Freedom or Liberty LOST
  • Title of Liberty Flag – Flown when the posts shows Freedom and Liberty are maintained or strengthened
  • Ribbons on the staff: Red Ribbons are added when Liberty is preserved, Black Ribbons when Liberty is lost.

Memorial Day – 2010

May 30th, 2010

Today, I am flying the USA Mourning Flag.  It is Memorial Day, 2010. A time to remember the sacrifice those before us made to give us what we have today.

(A black ribbon is attached to a short-masted flag for remembrance and mourning.)

Now Listen to the a verse of the Star Spangled Banner…

… that you’ve probably never heard!

Oh thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand

Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land

praise the power that had made and preserved us as a nation

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,

and this be our motto: “In God is our trust”

And the the star -spangled banner in triumph shall wave

O’re the land of the the free and the home of the brave.

The Bottom Line

How many Americans today have little or no knowledge of the importance of this day or the sacrifices that were made that we honor on this day. I am disappointed in my country for the first time in my life. I am disappointed in my fellow Americans that allowed this to happen … they have either forgotten, or they were taught wrong … by parents? by teachers? by misguided peers wearing Che T-Shirts?  Those who caused this are about to discover what it is like to live without liberty and freedom.  Those of us who are trying to take it back, already understand. To remember and learn, click on this link, America will we Remember?

My Silent Pledge of Allegiance

I Pledge Allegiance

To the Flag

Of the United States of America

And to the Republic

For which it STOOD

One Nation

Under God

Indivisible

With Liberty and Justice for All

From Wikipedia: The Pledge of Allegiance of the United States is an oath of loyalty to the national flag and the republic of the United States of America, originally composed by Francis Bellamy in 1892. The Pledge has been modified four times since then, with the most recent change adding the words “under God” in 1954.

And now, in my heart, it has been modified the FIFTH time.
